What can we add to a room for the winter to add visual interest and give a cozy feel? For many, January through March is a transition time. The holiday decorations have all been stored away, and we’re left asking ourselves how can we continue to replicate that happy cozy feeling after the holidays? I don’t know about you, but I’m always sad when it’s time to take the Christmas tree down. After we take all the Christmas decorations off the tree and just the soft white lights are left, I’ve come to realize that I love the cozy ambiance feeling it gives to a room. So that got me thinking, why do we have to take the tree down? Unfortunately, if you had a real tree for the holidays all good things must come to an end unless you purchased a potted one. In that case, you’ll be able to plant it outside and continue to enjoy it for years to come. However, this is where using an artificial tree comes in. If you already have one great, but if not and you like the idea of creating that cozy ambiance feel for the winter, there are so many realistic-looking artificial trees to choose from that vary in height, shape, and price. You can even find eco-friendly artificial trees made out of sustainable materials. After you’ve chosen your tree, the next step is to add lights and if you want to take it a step further, even adding pine cones adds a little more of a rustic outdoorsy feel. If you want to add even more visual interest to a room for the winter, you can add decor pieces in neutral colors of whites, creams, tans, soft grays, and even touches of black. You can also add touches of soft blues and greens and mix in woods and metals for a striking and beautiful look. The goal is to bring the feel of the outdoors in, by replicating the colors we see outside in the winter. It really does create a beautiful and cozy feel that hopefully will be that little pick-me-up you may need to get you through the winter months.
