Summertime Entertaining

Summertime Entertaining

Summertime is the perfect time for gatherings with friends and family. Whether inside or outside, creating a thoughtful space to entertain everyone doesn’t have to be a daunting task. Below are some helpful tips and ideas to help you get started.

Create a Theme - Although not necessary, having a theme for your get-together can be a lot of fun, for example a luau, movie night or pool party.

Inside or Outside - Decide whether you want to entertain your guests inside or outside. If you decide outside, choose a space that you feel will best accommodate everyone, think about the time of day and if you’ll need shade.

Colors - Decide what color theme you want to use. Summertime is all about celebrating the beauty of the season, so whether you go all out with lots of color or accent with just one particular color, either way you can’t go wrong.

Tablescape - Creating a tablescape makes it feel special and thoughtful. Whether you choose an informal or formal look, be creative and have fun with it. If children will be at the table and you want to use candles for ambiance, choosing faux candles is a great option with no worries. Also, adding a touch of nature, flowers or plants makes for a beautiful seasonal centerpiece.

Food - Decide whether you’re going to have a full meal or snacks. Decide if you’re going to do all the cooking, have a potluck where everyone brings a dish or order out. It really just depends on what works best for you. If you decide to do all the cooking, just make sure to plan in advance and give yourself plenty of time, that way it’s not stressful.

Music - Music is a great added bonus when entertaining. Consider the type of music that will go best with the atmosphere.

Games - There’s nothing like a little competition to add to the fun of the day. Whether inside or outside playing games is a great way to bring everyone together for some laughs and a good time. Just remind everyone it’s just for fun!

Remember, the goal of entertaining is to bring people together to have a good time. Whatever you choose, your friends and family will truly appreciate the effort you made to make the day memorable and special.
