Here’s a super easy way for family or friends to make a delicious meal together while having fun too! My husband likes making stromboli. What he loves is having the family right there alongside him helping along the way. Everyone chooses their favorite toppings and has a part in making the meal. It’s a fun and creative way of spending quality time together and it doesn’t get any better than that.
Prep: 10 min
Ingredients:
- 2 store bought pizza doughs
- flour
- whole milk fresh mozzarella cheese (shredded)
- other toppings of your choice
- egg wash
- favorite dipping sauce
- 2 13 x 9 in baking pans
Cook: 15 min
Makes: 6 servings
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Using your hands, carefully spread the pizza dough out onto a lightly floured 13 x 9 inch pan, spreading the dough out to the corners of the pan.
- Spread a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over half of the dough leaving one inch without cheese along the edge.
- Add any additional toppings of your choice on top of the cheese.
- Carefully pick up the other half of the dough and fold it onto the side that has the cheese and toppings.
- Press and squeeze the edges together forming a seal all around where the two sides meet.
- Carefully stretch and bend the stromboli to form a crescent shape.
- Make an egg wash (using the egg white of 1 egg and a very small amount of water, mix with a fork).
- Using a pastry brush, dip brush into egg wash and spread over the top and sides of stromboli. Repeat this process until evenly covered.
- Using a sharp knife, cut 4 slits on the top approximately 4 inches apart.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden and bubbly.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
