There’s nothing that says fall more than the taste of warm apple pie. The scent as it’s baking permeating throughout is just true bliss. My easy to make Rustic Apple Tart is a combination of apples, cinnamon, sugar and nutmeg wrapped in a lightly browned crust. This simple yet delicious dessert is sure to be a cozy fall favorite.

Ingredients:

6 - small/medium size apples of your choice, peeled, cored and thinly sliced

¼ cup sugar

½ tsp. cinnamon
-
⅛ tsp. nutmeg
-
½ tbsp. flour
-
1 - egg white
-
1 - store bought or homemade pie crust

13x9 sheet pan
-
parchment paper
-
pastry brush
Directions:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Peel, core and thinly slice the apples and place in a large bowl.

In a small separate bowl combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour.

Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the apples and gently combine until mixed well.

Lay a piece of parchment paper on top of the sheet pan.

Place the pie crust on top of the parchment paper.

Place the apple mixture in the middle of the pie crust.

Fold in all sides of the pie crust (about 1 ½ inches) leaving the middle open.

Using the pastry brush, gently dab a small amount of the egg white on the top and sides of the pie crust.

Bake for 15 minutes uncovered, then loosely place a piece of foil on top of the tart and continue baking for an additional 25 minutes until the crust is lightly golden brown.

Let cool, serve slightly warm.
